The reason we have laws

I think there are many reasons civilizations need laws. If we didn't have laws the world would be chaotic. We would be steeling stuff, killing people, doing everything that we can't do now. The laws keep us in control. We still break the laws, but not as much as we would if there were no legs. Some of the laws I think are a bit harsh, like a lot of Hammuarbi's laws. He said that if a son attacks his father the son would have his hand cut off as a punishment. I think the reason that some laws were very harsh and intimidating back then because the leader of that place wants to stay in power. He might have been scared that someone would overthrow him so he would want to scare people with terrorfying laws. He wouldn't want people to think about overthrowing him.

The Headline for G.G.S part 2

My new headline for Guns, Germs and Steel was, "How People and Civilizations thrived." I chose this headline because the movie is all about the beginnings of civilization and how it advanced from The Stone age to now. It also showed that people needed civilization to thrive. People and civilizations thrive by food and cooperation. If people didn't have a good food source such as farms, they wouldn't have the time or energy to build civilization. In the Neolithic age people had to cooperate with each other to get things done.
The reason for some parts of Papa New Guinea to not have very advanced civilization is because that they do not have enough recourses to farm. This to me is odd because I can understand that many years ago they wouldnt but now I think, why can't they try and get some help?

THE HEADLINE

My headline for my notes of Guns, Germs, and steel was Notes on Civilization. That basically means my thoughts of the movie about early civilization and important things. My thoughts were that it was very strange that some places in Papa New Guinea still lived like the Paleolithic. Also i never new that civilizations thrived for a time in the middle east. Maybe my headline could become; How People and Civilizations Thrived.
